London 2012 makes five key appointments

London 2012 has announced the appointment of its Head of Ceremonies in the week marking five years to go to the Olympic Games Opening Ceremony.

Responsible for planning the Opening and Closing Ceremonies, the Torch Relay and Medal Ceremonies for the 2012 Olympic Games and Paralympic Games, Martin Green is one of five senior management appointments announced this week.

Currently at AEG Europe where he oversaw the successful reopening of the O2 centre, Martin previously worked as Head of Events for the London Mayor.

He was involved in projects including New Year's Eve, the Athens Torch Relay and specialist festivals celebrating London's diverse communities.

Also appointed to the Culture team is Mike Gibbons, Head of Live Sites, who will be responsible for creating experience of the Games in London and around the UK through giant outdoor video screens linked to performance stages.

As Head of Live Sites at the BBC, Mike has been involved in major events including Live 8, Proms in the Park and the Athens Torch Relay.

Sue Hunt has been appointed as Director of Strategy and Programme Management.

After 20 years at Goldman Sachs she is now responsible for strategic business planning and project management.

Punita Gajree joins Sue in the Programme and Risk Management team as Head of Programme Solutions.

Finally, Ty Speer has been appointed as Client Services Director in the Commercial team.

He will be responsible for developing and managing relationships with national and international sponsors and commercial partners.
