IOC gives glowing praise for London 2012

14 June 2007

The International Olympic Committee (IOC) has given the highest praise for London 2012 organisers at the end of an annual review visit.

Over the past three days, the delegation had an update on every aspect of Games planning, including venues preparation, new media, sport and cultural plans.

Denis Oswald, Chair of the IOC Coordination Committee, said they were 'very satisfied and impressed' with what they had seen and heard.

He said: "Operationally and financially they are on-track; interest from the business community is high, with key new commercial partners signing up in the coming months.

"All this has progressed without any deviation from the vision that was laid out in Singapore.

"The Commission members – all of whom have a huge amount of Olympic Games experience - and I come away confident in the structures and people, and feeling energised by how the London Games will have a positive legacy and help move sport higher up the agenda – something that is so close to the IOC’s heart."
