Prime Minister Tony Blair has praised the cultural plans for the London 2012 Games.
Speaking at an event at the Tate Modern yesterday, Mr Blair said the 2012 cultural programme will provide the opportunity to showcase London as the cultural capital of the world.
The London 2012 cultural programme will include the Opening and Closing Ceremonies and the Torch Relay, with world-class artists, designers and performers getting involved in activities across the UK.
Sebastian Coe, Chair of the London 2012 Organising Committee, welcomed the Prime Minister's comments.
He said: "Every nationality and faith has settled here and has brought their passion for sport with them. This combination of sport and culture will provide a stunning environment for the 2012 Games."
