Potential construction contractors had a chance to look at plans for the London 2012 Aquatics Centre at a special industry day held today.

Over 250 business people attended the event, including major construction companies and sub-contractors.

They were given a detailed look at architect Zaha Hadid’s plans for the centre and had discussions with members of the Olympic Delivery Authority (ODA) and CLM working on the project.

Speaking at the event, ODA Chief Executive David Higgins said: "The Aquatics Centre will form a spectacular gateway to the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games from Stratford.

"After the Games it will become a new and lasting landmark for London, a new home for UK swimming and a new swimming and fitness facility for local people.

"Dialogue with the industry is very important as we move to the next stage of the project and this industry day provides a significant opportunity to explain our approach and listen to your views."
