The Olympic Delivery Authority (ODA) today opened the competitiion to design an innovative VeloPark for London 2012 Cycling events.
One of the 'Big 5' permanent Games venues in the Olympic Park, the VeloPark will include the Velodrome for indoor Olympic and Paralympic Cycling events and a temporary BMX circuit.
The design team will look at both the Games-time venue and how it will be transformed for local use after 2012.
Schoolchildren will be invited to enter a competition to help the winning design team develop plans for transforming the VeloPark after the Games.
David Higgins, Chief Executive of the ODA, said: "The design team competition will ensure that we continue to aim for the highest standards of design excellence across the project.
"We will be challenging designers to create a venue fit to stage the Games while also providing a landmark building for future generations to enjoy."
