2012 Games good for business

According to the independent survey, 81% of businesses in London and 77% nationwide believe the Games will have a positive impact on east London.

The survey shows that six million people are planning on attending the Games and a further 36 million are planning to watch the Games on TV.

Lead researcher Louise Stacey said: "With five years and six months still to go there is lots of time for public opinion and support for Games to be generated, but already feeling regards the impact of the event on east London looks extremely positive."

The results back up a survey undertaken on behalf of London 2012 in December 2006, which shows 79% of the population support the Games taking place in London in 2012, compared to 75% approval in July 2005.
