Swimmers have praised the Aquatics Centre design announced today by London 2012.
The revised plans include making the venue smaller to fit the new size of the site and providing access directly from the main bridge into the Olympic Park.
The plans, by architect Zaha Hadid, also take into consideration how the venue can best work for local residents once the Games are over.
Olympic Diver silver medallist Leon Taylor, present as the plans were unveiled, said: "It’s very exciting to see these plans – there is a real ‘wow’ factor.
"Unfortunately I won’t be competing in London 2012 but I can’t wait to see it when it’s built - a fantastic venue that will be the gateway to the Olympic Park."
Olympic Delivery Authority Chief Executive David Higgins said: "London 2012 has design at its heart. We are producing world class venues that are fit for the prize of holding the Olympic Games and Paralympic Games."
