The tunnelling of powerlines beneath the Olympic Park reached a major milestone today, on schedule.
One of the Tunnel Boring Machines has broken through into the first deep shaft along its route.
That means that the halfway point in the first tunnel has now been reached.
The tunnels will house the powerlines which currently stand in the Olympic Park site.
ODA Chief Executive David Higgins said: "Placing the powerlines underground is a vital part of the long-term regeneration of East London and this successful breakthrough is a significant moment. It shows that the work to underground the powerlines is on track."
