The preferred candidate to manage a £40m fund to support sporting and cultural events for the 2012 Games has been announced.
The Legacy Trust UK Consortium will provide money to help communities across the UK get fully involved in programmes connected to the Games in the period leading up to and including 2012.
The funds will be allocated to innovative and exciting projects reflecting the Olympic and Paralympic ideals of sporting excellence and cultural richness.
Paul Deighton, Chief Executive of the London Organising Committee of the Olympic Games and Paralympic Games, said: "We want to stage an inspirational Games, and want the whole country to participate.
