London 2012 has appointed Sue Benson to design the Equestrian Cross Country course for the 2012 Games.
Benson will be in charge of using the iconic buildings and views of Greenwich Park into a world class Cross Country venue for the Equestrian Eventing competition.
She was selected from a shortlist of candidates recommended by the International Equestrian Federation, with the British Equestrian Federation and British Eventing included on the selection panel.
An international Three Day Event competitor from 1972 to 1990, Benson represented Great Britain at European Championships on three occasions.
She has 15 years of major course design experience, and is currently working on the design of the Pan American Games in Rio de Janeiro in 2007.
London 2012 Organising Committee Director of Sport Debbie Jevans said: "Sue has an excellent track record in design at the highest level, and international experience.
"She has a good understanding of the needs of a world class course with a large amount of spectators and broadcasting requirements.
"We look forward to working with Sue over the next few years."
