Public get first bird's eye view of Olympic Park

The official Olympic Park viewing gallery will be open to the public at the weekend

Members of the public will have their first chance to get a bird's eye view of the Olympic Park site this weekend as part of the annual Open House Festival in London.

At the top of a residential block in Stratford, the official viewing gallery for the Park's 500 acres has until now only been open to engineers and VIPs, including the Queen and visiting dignitaries.

Chair of the London 2012 Organising Committee Sebastian Coe said: "This is a fantastic opportunity for people in London, helping them to put the Olympic Park in context.

"There's a great view - you can see right over to the City and Canary Wharf. The site is huge, but you can see how close the Park is to central London.

"We're delighted that this weekend's Open House will give the public their first taste of what will be a world-class Olympic Park."

Such is the interest that places are already fully booked, but there is much more to discover as part of the weekend, including offices, schools and government buildings.
