Golden weekend for British athletes

Triathlete Tim Don won gold at the World Championships at the weekend

British athletes claimed four World gold medals in Triathlon and Cycling events at the weekend.

Londoner Tim Don beat defending champion Hamish Carter at the World Triathlon Championship in Lausanne, winning the Elite Men's World Championship title by an impressive 11 seconds.

London 2012 hopefuls Will Clarke and Alistair Brownlee also took top spot in the Under-23 and Junior events respectively.

Tim Don said: "It was the best performance of my Triathlon career.

"I won on this course as a junior in 1998 and to take the senior title here is so rewarding. I'm stoked."

Cyclist Nicole Cooke, 23, brought more cheer for British sport, claiming the World Cup title in the penultimate race of the 12-event series.

Finishing fourth in the Rotterdam Tour on Sunday, she now holds an unassailable lead before the final race next week in Germany.

Cooke last won the World Cup in 2003, becoming the youngest ever competitor and first Brit to do so.
