Olympic medallist Rhona Martin joined the 2012 Roadshow

The 2012 Roadshow, which has now completed over 3,000 miles travelling all around the UK, received a rousing welcome in Dumfries today at the David Keswick Athletics Centre.

Children from local sports clubs gave exhibitions of athletics, hockey and table tennis watched by an impressive line-up of Olympic athletes, including Curlers Rhona Martin and David Murdoch, Rower Ed Coode, Cyclist Craig MacClean, veteran Weightlifter Bill McFadyen and top Rugby players.

Rhona Martin, who has been with the Roadshow throughout its visit to Scotland, said: "We have had a great reception here as elsewhere in Scotland.

"Hopefully we have got the message across to a large number of people that the 2012 Games will provide opportunities for the whole country."

The Roadshow finishes tomorrow in the North West with a spectacular celebration exactly six years to go to the Olympic Games Opening Ceremony.
