Senior Sports Manager David Luckes has received an MBE in the Queen's Birthday Honours list in recognition of his services to the London 2012 Games.

A former British Olympic Hockey player, Luckes was one of the original team behind London's successful bid to host the 2012 Games.

Luckes said: "I feel greatly honoured to receive this MBE. The success of London's bid was the result of a whole team of people and I thank them for their hard work and support.

"We are now working to make sure we deliver everything we promised in Singapore, to stage the best-ever Games, capturing the imagination of young people around the world and leaving a lasting legacy."

He also represented Great Britain in Hockey in three consecutive Games, in 1992, 1996 and 2000.

UK Athletics President Lynn Davies received a CBE for services to sport, adding to the MBE he was awarded in 1967.

An Olympic Long Jump gold medallist in 1964, Davies managed the British athletics team in 1980 and 1984.
