The 2012 Roadshow gets underway next week, visiting 50 locations across the UK to inspire people about the London 2012 Olympic Games and Paralympic Games.

A special 2012 bus will set off from Trafalgar Square on 6 July, a year after London won the bid to host the Games.

Covering 3,000 miles, the Roadshow will visit major cities, Games venues and sporting events across England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland.

Top names from London 2012, the Government and the world of sport will take part to help explain the benefits of hosting the Games for the whole of the UK and encourage people to get involved.

The programme will highlight the economic benefits for businesses, as well as a strong focus on tourism, volunteering and cultural events.

Last stop for the bus is in Liverpool on 27 July, exactly six years before the Opening Ceremony of the 2012 Games.

Sebastian Coe, Chair of the London 2012 organising committee, will be accompanying the bus to several venues around the country.

He said: "The UK-wide Roadshow will help to ensure that regional cities and businesses feel part of the 2012 experience.

"It will also provide them with the information about our plans and the opportunities to be part of the world's biggest sporting event."
