Sir Peter Mason has been appointed to the board of the Olympic Delivery Authority (ODA), the Department for Culture, Media and Sport announced today.
The ODA is the body with responsibility for the construction of the venues and infrastructure for the London 2012 Olympic Games and Paralympic Games and ensuring a sustainable legacy for London and the UK.
Sir Peter Mason, currently Chief Executive of AMEC, will take up his board position on 2 October, after his retirement from the company this year and the completion of the tendering process to appoint a delivery partner to work with the ODA.
He brings considerable experience from his long career in engineering and construction and will join the 12 members appointed by Tessa Jowell on 12 April.
