London 2012 is inviting people across the UK to gather at London 2012 Live Sites this weekend (Friday 23 – Saturday 25 July) for family entertainment to celebrate London 2012 Open Weekend supported by BP – a series of sporting, arts and cultural challenges set up across the UK to lead the nation into the two-year countdown to the start of the Olympic and Paralympic Games.

Cool Runnings will be shown on a selection of London 2012 Live Sites
Live Sites in Middlesbrough, Norwich, Portsmouth, Swansea, Manchester, Dover and Woolwich will provide temporary seating for the screening of the film Cool Runnings. The hit 1993 family comedy directed by Jon Turteltaub is loosely based on the true story of the Jamaican national bobsleigh team's debut at the Calgary 1988 Winter Olympic Games, and stars John Candy as Irv Blitzer, a retired bobsleigher and the team’s new coach.
Seb Coe, London 2012 Chair, said: 'Open Weekend will lead the nation into the two-year countdown to the start of the London 2012 Games with new personal bests being set right across the UK. I hope families will enjoy the entertainment throughout the weekend.
'Open Weekend 2010 is another opportunity for thousands of people to join in with the London 2012 Games.’
