GE, a worldwide partner of the Olympic Games, has today announced plans to donate £4.8 million ($8 million) worth of medical equipment, including foetal monitors, incubators and MR scanner, to Homerton University Hospital in Hackney, East London.

Trees help Olympic Park’s green spaces to flourish

Around 2,000 semi-mature British-grown trees have been hand-picked to form the roots of the Olympic Park’s green spaces, which will be enjoyed by spectators and become a home for wildlife.
Ten per cent of the Olympic Park workforce is walking or cycling to work, leading the way on using sustainable transport to get to the Olympic Park.

Waterways unlocked for a sustainable Games

London’s first new lock in 20 years was opened today, allowing London 2012 to transport construction and waste material to and from the Olympic Park by barge.
The Japanese team will use the university as a training base in the run up to the Games. They will also use the facilities for final preparations before competitions in Europe over the next three years. This included the IAAF Athletics World Championships taking place in Berlin in August.
The London Organising Committee of the Olympic Games and Paralympic Games (LOCOG) today announced Holiday Inn and Holiday Inn Express as the ‘Official Hotel Services Provider to London 2012’ and a Tier Three commercial partner.
The Netherlands Swimming team will use Leeds as a base for training before the London 2012 Games.
