Two new webcams launched today give the public a chance to view daily progress of construction on the Olympic Village.

During the London 2012 Games,
the Village will provide thousands of beds for athletes and officials. After
the Games, the facilities will be transformed into thousands of new homes, with
a mix of affordable housing and accommodation for sale and rent.
The Village will comprise 11
residential blocks, each around the size of a football pitch. The blocks are
made up of 5–7 buildings, built around a traditional courtyard.
Already construction work is
under way on the third-floor levels of the first block and structural work has
begun on the ground-floor levels of two other blocks. Piling works have been
completed on a further four blocks.
ODA
Chairman John Armitt said: ‘The Olympic
Village will be one of the strongest legacies from the Games, creating quality
new homes for Londoners, together with new parks, public squares and community
facilities. As construction work accelerates on the Village site, these new
webcams will keep the public up to speed on the progress we are making in the
delivery of this essential project.’
There are now three webcams
showing updated images of the Village being built, and another six showing
other London 2012 work, including the Olympic Stadium.
