New images have been published showing the final preparations for the first sections of the Aquatics Centre roof to be lifted into place.

Temporary supports in place so the first roof sections can be installed
Sixty temporary steel sections, each measuring 20m high, have been put in place to support part of the sweeping wave-shaped roof. The first parts of the 160m roof will be lifted into place in March.

Olympic Delivery Authority Chief Executive David Higgins said: ‘Steel fabricated in Wales and rolled in the north of England and Scotland is an integral part of successfully completing this challenging lift and demonstrates the role that companies across the UK are playing in helping deliver the venues and infrastructure for the London 2012 Games.’
