The meeting was opened by Seb Coe who congratulated ParalympicsGB for their achievements in Beijing and how he hoped this could be built on in London. He also stated that it is LOCOG’s hope to bring attitudinal change towards disability through the Paralympic Movement and through hosting the Paralympic Games in 2012.

Debbie Jevans, Director of Sport, told the meeting about the forthcoming recruitment of Director of Paralympic Integration - not to head up a separate Paralympic unit, but to ensure that there is full integration within the organisation, and all aspects of Paralympic planning are addressed over the next three years.

Piers Jones, Paralympic Sport Manager, gave an update on where the venues will be, and timetables for construction, and the group also received updates on plans for the Paralympic Village  and transport. The session ended with a squad planning session about plans for the run-up to 2012 hosted by Tanya Crook, Chief Operating Officer from ParalympicsGB.

Tanya said: 'It was great for us all to visit the Park and see the whole Games start to take shape. Seeing it first hand has really helped us focus on the job in hand with now only three and a half years to go  It was an excellent opportunity to be updated on  LOCOG’s latest plans and for the sports to meet the key people we will be working with between now and the Games. We look forward to building these relationships.'
