London 2012 Organising Committee Chair Seb Coe has congratulated the athletes named in the New Year honour list.

Eleanor Simmonds is among the athletes named in the New Year honours

Chris Hoy, Rebecca Adlington and Eleanor Simmonds were just some of the athletes who were honoured after a record-breaking Olympic and Paralympic performance.

Seb Coe said: 'Many congratulations to all the Olympians, Paralympians and their coaches honoured in the New Year honours list.

'The awards are a reward for their hard work, dedication, and wonderful performances in Beijing this summer which inspired the nation and made us all truly proud to be British.'
