New images have been released today showing the transformation of the Olympic Park at the halfway point between London winning the bid for the 2012 Games in July 2005 and the Opening Ceremony of the Olympic Games on 27 July 2012.

The before and after pictures show the dramatic progress that has been made on the Olympic Park. The majority of the site has already been cleared and cleaned, and the pylons that dominated the landscape have been removed. Power has been transferred to two new 6km tunnels that have been dug under the Park.

Construction started early on the Olympic Stadium and Aquatics Centre and work is also under way on the Olympic Village. In November 2008 work finished on the Sailing facilities at Weymouth and Portland – the first London 2012 venue to be completed.
