A vital area at the heart of the Olympic Park has been completely cleared.

Thornton's Field

The Thornton's Field site has now been cleared ready for construction
The former railway depot – known as Thornton’s Field will become a key logistics site that is needed for the construction of the Olympic Stadium and Aquatics Centre.

The site will also host the biggest land bridge in the Park, which is expected to carry two thirds of people visiting the Games in 2012. After the Games it will provide the main pedestrian route between the Park, Stratford City and key transport links.

Thornton’s Field railway sidings have been replaced by a new sidings facility that has been constructed at Orient Way, just outside the north-west boundary of the Park.
