G4S Security Services UK will work closely with the Olympic Delivery Authority and five Host Boroughs – Hackney, Newham, Tower Hamlets, Waltham Forest and Greenwich – to train and employ local residents to help it fulfil the contract.

The new security guarding service will help ensure that the Park is safe and secure for local people and the workers on site as construction work increases on some of the major venues for the London 2012 Games.

ODA Chief Executive David Higgins said: ‘A professional and appropriate security service is a crucial component of our plans and will contribute to the London 2012 legacy by creating opportunities for local people to gain training, jobs and long-term career development.’
