Search for Handball Arena contractor begins

The search has started for the contractor to build the Handball Arena – one of the last major construction opportunities in the Olympic Park.

Over 150 businesses attended an Industry Day to hear plans for the Arena. Details of how companies can compete for the contract have now been advertised.

The Handball Arena will host Handball during the Olympic Games and Goalball during the Paralympic Games. After the Games the venue will become a multi-sports arena. The seating capacity will be changeable so it can hold a wide range of events, ranging from local recreational sport to international competitions.

The Olympic Delivery Authority expects to appoint a contractor for the Handball Arena in early 2009, ready for construction to start around the middle of next year.
