Each year, young ambassadors will be selected from schools and colleges to spend a year promoting the Games to others in the borough.

They will receive skills training, VIP access to sports facilities and have the opportunity to get involved in the borough's 2012 activities.

Waltham Forest Council leader Clyde Loakes said: "Being a Youth Ambassador gives our young people a chance to really get involved in how the borough will benefit from the 2012 Games.

"We want them to help us make sure that all young people enjoy the Olympic experience and help us develop a lasting legacy for generations to come."

Youth Ambassador Annie Townsend said: "The 2012 Games is such a great opportunity for people in Waltham Forest and East London.

"Being an ambassador gives me the chance to have my say on the things I want to get out of the 2012 Games."
