Following the success of last year’s programme which involved over 3,000 students, the ODA will hold over 100 workshops in 40 schools around the Olympic Park over the next eight weeks. Interactive drama sessions will be used to communicate the importance of staying safe when living and going to school near construction sites.

The start of this year’s scheme coincides with European Week for Safety and Health at Work, which will see a programme of activity for workers across the Olympic Park including workshops, personal safety briefings and health campaigns.

ODA’s Head of Health and Safety Lawrence Waterman said: 'We want every worker on the Olympic Park site to leave safe and well at the end of every single day. We also have to make sure that local children who play and live in the area understand the potential dangers on a construction site.

'This is a hugely complex project and one of the largest construction sites in Europe. To date, we have succeeded in setting high standards in health and safety and achieving a record that is better than the industry average. But we are not complacent and as the "big build" accelerates, we need to continue to ensure that safety is our number one priority.'

Arc Theatre group have teamed up with the ODA to run the ‘stay safe, stay safe’ programme, which has been has relevance to Personal, Social and Health Education (PSHE) and Citizenship at Key Stage 3 in Primary schools and Key Stage 4 in Secondary schools

The workshops are for Year 5 and Year 6 (9-11) classes in primary schools and Year 7 and Year 8 (11-13 years old) classes in secondary schools.
