London 2012 Olympic tickets update

- Tickets to see sport on the Olympic Park are on sale today and include Hockey, Diving, Handball, Water Polo, Modern Pentathlon, Basketball as well as the Orbit.
- Resale is also now available for ticketholders who want to sell any unwanted tickets.

The London Organising Committee of the Olympic Games and Paralympic Games (LOCOG) has confirmed that a further batch of contingency tickets are on sale at www.tickets.london2012.com or via phone at 0844 847 2012.  Approximately 50,000 tickets are on sale now that the Hockey competition draws are complete and further venue seating plans have been finalised. 25,000 Hockey tickets and a limited number of tickets for Diving, Handball, Modern Pentathlon, Water Polo, Basketball and the Orbit are on sale.

In recognition of Visa’s longstanding support of the Olympic Games and Paralympic Games, only Visa (debit, credit and prepaid) can be used to purchase tickets.

It has also been confirmed that the official resale platform is now live. Customers have another opportunity to put any tickets they no longer want up for resale. Tickets will not be made available immediately for resale, but will be validated and released for sale in June on a sport by sport basis.  If sold, the customer will be notified by email, then refunded within 5-10 working days of the ticket being sold, subject to LOCOG receiving the original tickets back.  If the ticket remains unsold it will be returned to the customer’s account.

Wheelchair users can check availability of wheelchair spaces and purchase tickets by calling 0844 847 2012, and pressing two when prompted, to speak to the London 2012 Accessibility team.

LOCOG Commercial Director Chris Townsend said, ‘This release of tickets gives people a great chance to attend sport in the popular Olympic Park venues.  Tickets for further events will follow in due course and we will inform our ticketing database directly.  For those people who are no longer able to attend, or cannot give their tickets to friends or family, they can now use our resale platform.  This will enable people to resell their tickets in a safe and legal way.’
