During the London 2012 Paralympic Games, the motor circuit at Brands Hatch will host Paralympic Road Cycling from Monday 3 September – Saturday 8 September 2012. The start/finish area, approximately four kilometres of the course, and the medal ceremonies, will take place within the venue. Parts of the Paralympic Cycling route are outside the venue and are free to view.

Installation of temporary venue infrastructure
In order to turn Brands Hatch from a world-class motor racing circuit into an international sports arena, we will need to put in place some temporary structures and infrastructure including seating, office cabins, scoreboards, platforms and technology services.
These installation works will take place from 8 August to 2 September and should not have an impact on the local area.
Training days
There will be a series of training days in the lead up to the Games which allow officials and athletes to test the course. The training days will take place during the afternoon of 19 June, and on the two days leading up to competition on 3 and 4 September. It is likely that roads in the local area will be busier on these days due to the required road closures for the event. More information will be available in due course.
Venue operations during the Games
Security
In order to run a safe and secure event, we will need to implement the following security measures during the Games:
- fencing, lighting and CCTV cameras
- security patrols around the venue
- installation of Pedestrian and Vehicle Screening Areas
Road closures
In order to safely deliver this world-class sporting event, we must secure and prepare the route and make sure it is clear of any vehicles. This protects both competitors and spectators and will involve road closures and parking restrictions in affected areas.
Approximately 3 miles of roads will be closed for the Paralympic Road Cycling event. The road closures are as follows:
-A20 at Gorse Hill: from south of Eglantine Road to south of Brands Hatch entrance will be closed except for access.
-Scratchers Lane, Fawkham: from its junction with A20 London Road throughout its entire length to its junction with Fawkham Road will be closed with restricted access.
-Part of Fawkham Road, West Kingsdown: between Scratchers Lane and a rear entrance to Brands Hatch will be closed with restricted access.

Roads will be closed from 4.30am on Monday 3 September until 12 midnight on Saturday 8 September for two further training days and the Paralympic Road Cycling competition.
Details about the closures will be advertised using road signs, via the local media, at www.kent.gov.uk/london2012 and via the Kent County Council’s highways Twitter feed @KentHighways
Public transport
London 2012 is aiming for 100% of ticketed spectators to travel to competition venues by public transport, walk or cycle so local travel routes may be busy on event days. You can minimise disruption to your journey by planning your travel in advance.
Spectator shuttle buses will run from Sevenoaks rail station to Brands Hatch on event days, which may mean that roads in the area are busier than usual.
Buses will run every 5–10 minutes and will be timed with the venue opening times, so the earliest would be arriving at Brands Hatch at 9am and the latest would be departing around 7.30–8pm until the crowd is cleared.
The service will only run at high frequency during the peak arrival and departure times, and will operate a lower service during the day. The buses will travel to Brands Hatch on the A25 via Seal and Borough Green and onto London Road.

After the Games
When the London 2012 Paralympics Games finish in September, Brands Hatch will revert to being a motor racing circuit.
We will begin to remove all our temporary structures immediately after the Closing Ceremony of the Paralympic Games. We anticipate that it will take us less than a week to remove the infrastructure and reinstate the venue to its previous condition.
