Ghana is the eighteenth country to join the International Inspiration programme.
In Ghana, International Inspiration will work to ensure more children and young people of all abilities participate in high-quality and inclusive physical education, sport and play. It will also use sport as a tool to develop life skills, to educate young people about HIV and AIDS, fair play and respect, and to empower young people, particularly girls.
It will leave a lasting legacy by training PE teachers, community coaches and young leaders to deliver high quality and inclusive PE and sport in schools and communities.
‘Sport has always been an essential part of my life and I know the benefits it can bring to someone’s life.'
Seb Coe
International Inspiration will work in partnership with the Ghanaian government, Beckwith International Leader Development and other local organisations to encourage a deeper understanding of the positive impact that PE, sport and play can have.
Seb Coe, Chair of the London 2012 Organising Committee, was thrilled to welcome Ghana to the programme: 'I’m delighted to welcome Ghana as the latest country to the International Inspiration programme – through this we will be reaching out to and inspiring thousands more children and young people to go beyond their personal best.’
