High-profile UK and international athletes are acting as International Inspiration Ambassadors, helping to highlight how the programme is transforming children and young people’s lives around the world.

Olympic and Paralympic medallists, hopefuls and sporting heroes are some of the most iconic individuals in the world today, and are role models for millions of children and young people.

They help us to reach a wider audience, enabling us to celebrate the achievements of the International Inspiration and communicate to the world the value and impact of the programme.  

More international athletes from the various International Inspiration countries will be joining the current Ambassadors in the lead-up to the London 2012 Games.

One of Britain’s greatest ever Paralympians, Baroness Tanni Grey-Thompson is winner of 11 Paralympic gold medals and six London Wheelchair Marathons. Tanni became an International Inspiration Ambassador in July 2009.

A former sprinter and hurdler and world record holder for 13 years, Colin Jackson has been an International Inspiration Ambassador since 2009.

British born football star David Beckham is admired by fans around the world for his skills and powerful free kicks on the field. David became an International Inspiration Ambassador in July 2009.

Heptathlete Denise Lewis is best known for winning gold at the Sydney 2000 Olympic Games. In July 2009, Denise became an International Inspiration Ambassador.

Oscar Pistorius is one of the world’s best Paralympic sprinters and winner of four Paralympic gold medals. He became an International Inspiration Ambassador in November 2011.

Sir Chris Hoy, winner of three gold medals at Beijing 2008, is the most successful Olympic male cyclist of all time. In July 2009, Chris became an International Inspiration Ambassador.
