- The North East has 20 facilities in the London 2012 Pre-Games Training Camps Guide
- A funding investment package of £3.3m has been secured for the Tees Barrage, on the back of its inclusion in the Pre Games Training Camp Guide.
- 22 London 2012 Handover flags were raised in the North East to celebrate the handover of the Games from Beijing to London.
- A 'Major Events Bidding Strategy' has been developed and is being put into practice.
