About the Communications Directorate
The London 2012 Games project will be the subject of ever increasing interest from the public, media, stakeholders and other audiences. Clear, timely and effective communications will be vital to the success of the project. The Olympic Delivery Authority (ODA) Communications Directorate will have a crucial role to play in embedding a communications culture within the organisation and helping meet many of the challenges facing the ODA in the years to come.
Responsible to: Marketing Manager
Job Purpose
To work with the Marketing Manager to help develop and deliver the ODA external and internal marketing communications strategy covering - publications, brand (implementation and protection), events, market research, internal communications (corporate and site worker) and new media.
Responsibilities
- To be responsible for the line management of two marketing executive positions.
- To be responsible for working across all designated ODA and Delivery Partner departments to ensure that all marketing communications requirements are fulfilled.
- To ensure the delivery of publications, internal communications (corporate and site worker), brand implementation and protection, events, market research and new media activity in line with the ODA marketing strategy.
- To be responsible for and manage a budget within designated areas of responsibility.
- Liaise closely with key stakeholders including the London 2012 Organising Committee (LOCOG), the five Host Boroughs, the National Lottery, Mayor of London, the London Development Agency and the Department for Culture Media and Sport.
- Assist the Marketing Manager in the selection and management of all third party suppliers.
- Write and facilitate the production and distribution of all ODA external and internal communications to a variety of audiences.
- In conjunction with the Marketing Manager develop innovative solutions to communicate construction progress to a wide variety of audiences (B2B and B2C), domestic and international.
- Manage the London 2012 brand internally and externally
- Contribute to the overall ODA marketing communications strategy where appropriate.
- Carry out specific projects as directed and other ad-hoc communication projects ensuring delivery to time, cost, quality and standards.
- Basic artwork design and formatting for a variety of marketing materials.

Part one - key experience and qualifications required
- Proven track record in staff line management
- Competent writer – external and internal audiences
- Ideally Adobe CS3 (In Design and Photoshop) competent
- Competent user of content management systems (CMS)
- PC literate competent user of MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint
- Excellent communicator, both written and oral
- Good time manager
- Organised, methodical and thorough
- Demonstrate the ability to multi-task and to deliver accurately, on time within tight timeframes
- Self-starter
- Team player
- Flexible and willing to learn
- Accustomed to working within agreed budgets

Terms and conditions
Salary
£40,000
Other benefits
Discretionary bonus payments will be paid as a percentage of base salary and will be determined by the achievement of corporate, functional and individual objectives assessed by the performance management rating that an individual receives. You will be reimbursed for travelling expenses (other than travel to and from work), accommodation or other expenses in the course of carrying out your role provided that any expenses are incurred in accordance with the terms of the ODA’s policy.
Leave
25 days paid annual leave per annum in addition to the usual public holidays.
Notice period
Three months
Pension
You will be offered membership of a stakeholder pension scheme and an employer contribution of 6% of your basic salary will be made. You may also contribute to the scheme, subject to the maximum allowed by current HM Revenue and Customs limits.
Normal place of work
The ODA offices are located on the 23rd floor of One Churchill Place in Canary Wharf, London.
Parking provision is limited at Canary Wharf and therefore the ODA is unable to provide parking for it’s employees and therefore encourage all employees to use public transport.
Political restrictions
There are statutory restrictions on the political activities that some of the ODA’s employees can undertake and details of these restrictions are available from the HR team.
