Games Maker applications are now closed to the general public.

Finding up to 70,000 Games Makers is a hugely complex task. Because we want to give every application the consideration it deserves, the journey to becoming a London 2012 volunteer will take longer than a typical application process.

Here are the key dates of the volunteer journey:

  • 27 July 2010 London 2012’s official Games Maker programme launched for pre-identified applicants for specialist roles, as well as for special interest groups and members of pre-identified disability organisations.
  • 15 September 2010 Applications opened to the general public.
  • 27 October 2010 Applications closed.
  • January 2011 LOCOG start inviting short-listed applicants to a selection event.
  • February 2011–February 2012 Selection events take place and all invited applicants are interviewed.
  • Last three months of 2011 LOCOG start sending out offers to successful applicants.
  • February 2012 Orientation training begins.
  • February 2012 Role-specific training begins.
  • April 2012 Venue training begins.
  • Late April 2012 Distribution of uniforms and accreditation passes begins.
