The project is designed to promote construction-related employment opportunities for women and is funded by the London Development Agency and ConstructionSkills.
Activities include:
Work placements provide newly-trained tradeswomen with a chance to be placed on the Olympic Park, to build on the skills and knowledge they have gained in college, with valuable site experience.
The work placements are 16 hours a week, for 13 weeks, with a designated site supervisor. Work placements are unpaid but participants receive expenses.
The project aims to support women working on site to remain in continued employment. When a contract is coming to an end, two dedicated employment and skills managers will help people access other opportunities available on the Olympic Park.
The Women into Construction project also provides support towards childcare and travel expenses while training or starting on site.
If you are a women living in London and would like to register your interest for working in construction on the Olympic Park please complete and return this registration form to info.EIteam@london2012.com .
One of the project managers will then contact you to arrange a meeting to talk through your options.
