The London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games are being staged by the London 2012 Organising Committee (LOCOG). This means we’re the people selling the tickets, preparing the venues, providing the sports equipment and hiring the people to make the Games happen.
By the time the London 2012 Opening Ceremony takes place on 27 July 2012, LOCOG will have a workforce of up to 6,000 full-time and temporary staff; up to 3,000 of these will be in short-term Games-time roles.
LOCOG is also responsible for:
- Holding a series of test events before the Games, called the London Prepares series
- Recruiting and training volunteers
- Overseeing the Cultural Olympiad leading up to the Games
