What’s available?

Security includes jobs such as:

There are thousands of security officer and supervisor positions to fill with London 2012 Contractors.

Working in a security position means you’ll play a vital role in ensuring everyone visiting, competing in or working at the Games can safely join in and celebrate London 2012.

You will be part of a large security workforce at Games time, where you will work with a team of security professionals and stewards in and around London 2012 venues.

When do the jobs take place?

Some roles are starting immediately but the majority of roles will be carried out from 27 July 12 August 2012 (Olympic Games) and 29 August 9 September 2012 (Paralympic Games) – known as the Games-time period. Other roles will last only for the Olympic Games or only for the Paralympic Games.

When does recruitment begin?

Recruitment has begun for thousands of staff across the Security sector required at Games time.

The security operation at London 2012 will have a high profile, and for many of the thousands of visitors each day the welcome provided by the security workforce is the start of their Games experience.

You’ll be welcoming the world while playing a vital role in delivering a secure and safe Games time.

...and possible lows

As with all security roles, you’re likely to work long shifts on a rota basis.

The job will be demanding with a need to be constantly vigilant, and a responsibility to take action to ensure the safety of the visitors, competitors and staff.

Responsibilities and tasks include:

  • Using your communication and interpersonal skills
  • Remaining calm under pressure
  • Making quick decisions

Skills and prerequisites needed:

  • Relevant security industry experience (currently we are looking for more than one year’s experience)
  • Good customer service
  • Good communication skills
  • Five- year checkable history
