Thousands of staff across the Cleaning and waste sector are needed for hire by London 2012 Contractors.
The people who work on the Games are a critical element in making London 2012 a success. Cleaning and waste staff play an important role in making sure venues are ready for spectators, visitors have a positive experience, and athletes can focus on their most important job – going for gold.
As a member of the Cleaning and waste team at the Games, you will be working with passionate, like-minded people to help create the best experience possible for other workers, visitors, officials and athletes.
When do the jobs take place?
Some roles will be carried out from 27 July – 12 August 2012 (Olympic Games) and 29 August – 9 September 2012 (Paralympic Games) – known as the Games-time period. Other roles will last only for the Olympic Games or only for the Paralympic Games.
When does recruitment begin?
Recruitment has begun for thousands of staff across the Cleaning and waste sector required at Games time.
The highs...
Many positions are based in some of the iconic venues located in the Olympic Park such as the Aquatics Centre, the Velodrome and the Olympic Stadium. Others will be working in the Olympic and Paralympic Village, around athletes and officials.
...and possible lows
The work can be hard and you may have to work long hours. It can be repetitive and you may need to work accurately and quickly while under pressure in order to get your job done on time.
Sample role – Venue Cleaner
The jobholder is responsible for cleaning a designated zone as allocated or working as part of a response team across the venue as directed.
