The Inspire programme recognises outstanding projects and events helping to deliver the Games' lasting legacy.
Meeting the key aims
Here are the aims for each theme which your project must meet to qualify for the Inspire programme/
Sport
Sport projects must:
- increase participation in grass roots sports (including schools), sport competition and physical activity; and/or
- improve Olympic and Paralympic medal table performance.
Culture
Culture projects must meet all three of the Cultural Olympiad values:
- welcome the world;
- inspire and involve young people; and
- leave a lasting and positive legacy.
Projects must also meet at least three of the seven themes of the Cultural Olympiad.

Education
Education projects must achieve one or more of the following aims:
- Promote the Olympic values of excellence, friendship and respect or the Paralympic values of courage, determination, inspiration and equality.
- Involve young people in the design, development and delivery of the project.
- Improve young people’s skills and enhancing employment opportunities.
- Develop partnerships between education institutions and between institutions and other education organisations.

The environment
Environment and sustainability projects must:
- help deliver an environmentally sustainable Games; and/or
- promote environmental principles and behaviour change, using the Games as an example.
Volunteering
Volunteering projects must encourage participation in volunteering in sport, culture, education and/or sustainable development.
Business opportunities
Business opportunities projects must:
- help UK business to be better able to win Games-related contracts; and/or
- showcase UK and regional business capability in relation to the Games.
