Following a successful year performing across India, China, United States and Europe, AfroReggae, Rio’s cultural warriors return to the Barbican with an explosion of percussion. Hip-Hop and reggae rhythms from the heart of the favela fuse with the deep funk sounds of James Brown, providing a pulsating peripheral vision that sees art where others see no solution. Favelization will feature sounds and images from young performers in East London, inspired by AfroReggae. On Friday 26 September, there will also be a special AfroReggae performance for our East London community partners to celebrate bite’s 10th anniversary. Have you seen AfroReggae perform before? For a chance to win a pair of tickets to see an AfroReggae performance at the Barbican, send your comments, thoughts and what you enjoyed the most about the show to us by Monday 15 September. Email your comments to ar@barbican.org.uk with ‘AfroReggae Prize Draw’ in the subject title and the winner will be picked at random. Selected comments will be used for marketing purposes.
