The London 2012 Games are being delivered by two organisations:

- The London Organising Committee of the Olympic Games and Paralympic Games Ltd (LOCOG), responsible for staging the Games – funded in the main by the private sector and not subject to EU procurement regulations; and

- The Olympic Delivery Authority (ODA), responsible for building the venues and infrastructure – a government-funded organisation subject to EU procurement regulations.

Opportunities to become part of the supply chain for the London 2012 programme will be awarded by both the ODA and LOCOG through the Business Network. The London Development Agency will be letting contracts for the transformation of the Olympic Park after the Games.

The Olympic Delivery Authority

The ODA will let the majority of the contracts for the infrastructure, transport and construction of the venues for the 2012 Games.

Its tier one contracts, as well as all ODA orders throughout the supply chain, will be listed on CompeteFor, London 2012’s chosen website for publishing Games-related contract opportunities.

The London 2012 Organising Committee

LOCOG will let most contracts for services to deliver and stage the Games itself, covering goods and services from sports equipment to catering. Most of these contracts are being let from 2009 onwards.

LOCOG is responsible for procuring the goods and services required to stage the Games themselves. Therefore LOCOG contract opportunities will cover a range of goods and services including sports equipment, catering and temporary venues.

Procurement policies

Contracts will be awarded to businesses that reflect London 2012’s procurement policies and values.

The ODA has published a ‘Supplier Guide’ (PDF, 1.46MB).

LOCOG operates a fair and transparent procurement process that supports our vision for London 2012. Further details of our procurement approach is available in the LOCOG 'ITT Part 1 - General Information'. Also view LOCOG's Standard Terms of Procurement (v5) PDF, (86kB).

Prospective suppliers and licensees should ensure that their businesses and supply chain comply with LOCOG’s Sustainable Sourcing Code and Diversity and Inclusion Business Charter, both of which are used in the procurement process to help assess value for money

No marketing rights

Businesses awarded contracts relating to the Games will be required to sign London 2012’s ‘no marketing rights’ clause, which restricts the marketing activities that a business can undertake to promote its work on the Games.

This restriction is necessary to protect LOCOG’s revenue from sponsors who pay very large sums to gain London 2012 marketing rights. View London 2012's No Marketing Rights Protocol.
