- The Luminous Soul Dance Project is a dance development project for disabled people in Northern Ireland. The project is directly inspired by London 2012 and supported by the Legacy Trust’s Connections programme in Northern Ireland. It will run over the next 3 years and to kick start it we will be running Dance Development Days in 5 areas of Northern Ireland. During these development days, we hope to identify people who have real potential to be professional in the art form and who will then act as role models to other aspiring disabled dancers. Individuals selected at the dance development days will be offered places on 5, week-long Residential Courses which will operate over the next 3 years. Dance continuation classes will keep the momentum going on a weekly basis. The participants will have the empowering experience of working and developing with professional disabled dancers from inclusive dance companies throughout the UK. Presently, there are no disabled people working in the medium of dance in Northern Ireland. This project seeks to redress that by offering participants a unique opportunity to work and develop alongside inspiring facilitators in a safe and secure environment.
