Vanuatu were first represented at the Seoul 1988 Olympic Games by a team of four in athletics and boxing.
Fourteen of their 17 Olympians to date have competed in athletics.
Olivette DARUHI was the first woman to represent Vanuatu. She competed in the 100m and 200m in Seoul.
The 400m hurdler Mary-Estelle KAPALU appeared at three Olympic Games from 1992 to 2000. She was the first from her country to do so.
Archer Francois LATIL competed in the men's individual competition at the Sydney 2000 Olympic Games, aged 62.
In Beijing in 2008, Vanuatu had a team of three in athletics and table tennis. They are yet to win a medal.
