Shooter Ahmed AL MAKTOUM is his country's only Olympic champion to date. He won gold in the double trap at the Athens 2004 Olympic Games. He also finished fourth in the trap, and in Beijing he finished seventh in double trap.
The UAE sent a team of eight to the 2008 Olympic Games. Two were women.
Latifah AL-MAKTOUM was the first woman to compete for UAE in the Olympic Games when she took part in the showjumping.
