Highlights

Tuvalu first appeared on the Olympic stage at the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games.

Weightlifter Logona ESAU was their first Olympian when he competed in the lightweight competition.

The 100m runner Asenate MANOA was the first woman from Tuvalu to compete. Sixteen at the time of her Olympic appearance, she had trained on an airport runway and her Olympic appearance was her first on a synthetic track.

Okilani TINILAU competed in the men's 100m. They have yet to win an Olympic medal.
