At Beijing 2008, Ismail Ahmed ISMAIL became Sudan's first Olympic medallist when he took 800m silver.
Sudan were first represented by a 10-man team at the Rome 1960 Olympic Games. They competed in athletics, boxing, shooting and weightlifting.
Omer KHALIFA finished eighth in the men's 1500m at the Los Angeles 1984 Olympic Games. Sudan sent a team of nine in athletics and swimming to the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games.
