St Vincent and the Grenadines

Highlights

St Vincent and the Grenadines first sent a team to the Seoul 1988 Olympic Games.

The six members all competed in athletics, and long jumper Jacqueline ROSS was the only female member of the team.

The 800m runner Eversley LINLEY became the first Vincentian to participate in three Olympic Games. He competed in the 800m at Seoul 1988 and Barcelona 1992. He was also part of the 4x400m squad.

In Atlanta in 1996 Eswort COOMBS reached the semifinals of the men's 400m.

At the Sydney 2000 Games, Stephenson WALLACE took part in the men's 50m freestyle and Teran MATTHEWS in the women's 50m freestyle.

They were the first to compete in a sport other than athletics.

In Beijing, flagbearer Kineke ALEXANDER competed in the women's 400m and the team's only other representative was Jared LEWIS, who ran the men's 100m. St Vincent and the Grenadines have yet to win an Olympic medal.
