The Solomon Islands were first represented by two track athletes and a weightlifter at the Los Angeles 1984 Olympic Games.
Weightlifter Leslie ATA was the first to represent the Solomon Islands more than once. He finished 16th in the lightweights in 1984 and also competed in the middleweights at the 1992 Games in Barcelona. He was their only representative at these Games.
The 100m runner Nester GENIWALA'A became Solomon Islands' first female representative when she competed at the Atlanta 1996 Olympic Games.
Solomon Islands sent a team of two athletes and a weightlifter to the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games.
To date they have competed in archery, athletics, boxing and weightlifting. They have yet to win a medal.
