Seychelles

Highlights

Seychelles were first represented by a team of nine at the Moscow 1980 Olympic Games. Welterweight boxer Michael PILLAY was the first team member to see action.

Albert MARIE competed in the men's 3,000m steeplechase, 10,000m and marathon.

In 1992 light heavyweight boxer Roland RAFORME won two bouts and finished equal fifth. Rival CADEAU also finished equal fifth in the light middleweight division at the Atlanta 1996 Games.

To date, these are the best achievements by competitors from the Seychelles.

Swimmer Kenny ROBERTS became the first from the Seychelles to compete at three Olympic Games. He made his Olympic debut aged 14 and swam the men's 100m freestyle in 1992, 1996 and 2000.

Seychelles sent a team of nine to the Beijing 2008 Games to compete in six sports. They have yet to win an Olympic medal.
